Tools to Empower Teleworkers: Achieve Autonomy and Job Satisfaction!

Jean-François Arnaud

Which tools will make any teleworker an autonomous and happy professional?

Repeated COVID lockdown have brought telework into the life of companies.

For Blacksmith, the remote working experience has been a success, and since then more than half of the team has been working "full-remote", the rest of the team meeting regularly in our offices located in the center of Paris. .

To overcome the lack of physical proximity, it is important to put in place processes and tools to maintain good communication.

For our part, we have thus kept the "daily meeting" where the team meets for fifteen minutes each day at 9:00 a.m. to take stock of the tasks that everyone will be carrying out during the day and to be sure that there is no no blockages on particular points.

Management also holds a bi-monthly one-to-one meeting with each team member to make sure everything is going well and to take and give individual feedback.

Here are several tools and technologies to organize team communication:

  • Online collaboration tools: Tools like Google Docs, Slack, and Trello can help you stay connected with your team and share documents, discussions, and tasks in real time.

  • Project management tools: Tools like Jira and Asana can help you manage your team's tasks and deadlines in an organized and efficient way.

  • Live communication tools: Tools like Zoom, Skype, and Google Meet can help you stay in touch with your team in real time, whether it's for meetings, informal chats, or project presentations.

  • Source code control tools: Tools like GitHub and GitLab can help you manage versions and changes to your team's source code in an organized and transparent way.

It is important to note that these tools are only examples, and there are many other options available on the market.

Feel free to evaluate the different options based on your needs and preferences to choose the most suitable tools for your team and your project.

BONUS : from Discord to Gather 🙌

A few months ago we made the transition from Discord to Gather!

The concrete results for Blacksmith?

- more communication between team members -> more natural to go see a colleague at his virtual office than to offer him a call on Discord 😅

- more fun in meetings and interactions (thanks to our experts in “wild office redecoration” who will recognize themselves 😜) 🥳

- a more visual, fun work environment that strengthens the bonds between team members 🕹️

Conclusion: the whole team unanimously welcomed the switch to Gather 🙌
